Choose your setup

Start with the web app on a computer for notes, recording, and the assistant. The other surfaces exist for specific capture situations — add them when you hit the situation, not before.

Web app

Open app.usebanter.ai. On a computer, recording, dictation, notes, and the assistant work here — see the quick start. If you’re on a locked-down work computer that doesn’t allow installs, this is your setup, and it’s not a lesser one.

Phone browsers support notes, dictation, search, and chat, but recording is unavailable. Use the iOS app to record on iPhone or iPad, or a computer for browser recording.

Installed app (PWA)

The web app can be installed like a regular app — that’s all “PWA” means. In Chrome: menu → Install Banter (or the install icon in the address bar). Banter gets its own window, so an active recording isn’t sitting in a tab you might close. Edits made offline queue locally and sync when you reconnect.

Chrome extension

Install it from the Chrome Web Store. There’s nothing to sign in to: the extension has no account of its own and works alongside the Banter tab you’re already signed in to, so keep Banter open while you use it. It adds a Record with Banter button to Meet, Zoom, and Teams calls and hands the meeting audio to your Banter tab, which does the recording. It also reads participant names from Meet, Zoom, and Teams (which improves speaker labels), takes screenshots with Cmd+Shift+S, and fills a new recording note with the matching Google Calendar or Outlook event’s title, guests, and description.

Desktop app

The desktop app captures system audio — whatever your computer is playing — plus your mic, directly. The web app can capture native apps too (share Entire screen with Also share system audio in the picker — see Zoom), but the desktop app skips that step entirely: one click, no share prompt, and on macOS 14.2+ no screen-recording permission. iOS app and Apple Watch

The iOS app records with the screen locked and uploads in the background — built for hallway conversations and customer visits. The Apple Watch companion records from your wrist, keeps recordings locally, and hands them to your iPhone when it’s in range. Email [email protected] for access.
