Choose your setup
The web app needs no install. Add the extension, desktop app, or iOS app when your meetings call for them.
Everything in Banter works from the web app with nothing installed. The other surfaces exist for specific capture situations — add them when you hit the situation, not before.

Web app
Open app.usebanter.ai. Recording, dictation, notes, and the assistant all work here — see the quick start. If you’re on a locked-down work computer that doesn’t allow installs, this is your setup, and it’s not a lesser one.
Installed app (PWA)
The web app can be installed like a regular app — that’s all “PWA” means. In Chrome: menu → Install Banter (or the install icon in the address bar). Banter gets its own window, so an active recording isn’t sitting in a tab you might close. Edits made offline queue locally and sync when you reconnect.
Chrome extension
Install from the Chrome Web Store, then sign in with the same account as the web app. It records the active tab plus your mic, detects participant names in Google Meet and Teams (which improves speaker labels), takes screenshots with Cmd+Shift+S, and adds a “create note from event” button in Google Calendar.
Desktop app
The desktop app captures system audio — whatever your computer is playing — plus your mic, directly. The web app can capture native apps too (share Entire screen with Also share system audio in the picker — see Zoom), but the desktop app skips that step entirely: one click, no share prompt, and on macOS 14.2+ no screen-recording permission. iOS app and Apple Watch
The iOS app records with the screen locked and uploads in the background — built for hallway conversations and customer visits. The Apple Watch companion records from your wrist, keeps recordings locally, and hands them to your iPhone when it’s in range. Email [email protected] for access.
