Record Zoom

How you capture Zoom depends on where the meeting runs: a Zoom tab is captured directly, and the native Zoom app is captured by sharing your screen’s audio instead of a tab’s. Both work from the web app.

Zoom in the browser

If you join from the Zoom web client (the “join from your browser” link):

• With the extension: from the Zoom tab, click the Banter extension icon and start recording — active tab plus your mic.
• Without it: in your open note, click the mic button → Tab + microphone, then pick the Zoom tab in the share picker with tab audio on.

Either way you get a two-channel recording: you on one side, the call on the other, with speaker labels in the transcript.

Tip: Zoom hides the “join from your browser” link until you dismiss the app prompt. It appears under “Having issues with Zoom Client?” on the join page.

The native Zoom app

The web app captures the Zoom desktop client too — share your screen’s audio instead of a tab’s:

1. In your note, click the mic button → Tab + microphone.
2. In the share picker, switch to the Entire screen tab, turn on Also share system audio, and share.
3. Banter now hears everything your computer plays — the Zoom call included — while your own voice stays on its own mic channel, so who-said-what still works.

The share prompt warns that the site can see your screen; Banter keeps only the audio — nothing visual is recorded.

Two alternatives if you’d rather skip the share picker: the Banter desktop app captures system audio directly (early access — email [email protected]), or if you’re physically in the room with others, a plain Microphone recording works and still gets speaker labels — see In person and on the go.
