Recording troubleshooting

Most capture problems come down to one thing: what you asked the browser to record isn’t where the audio is.

Only my voice was captured

You recorded Microphone when you needed Tab + microphone, or the tab picker didn’t share audio.

• Web app: mic button → Tab + microphone, pick the meeting tab in the picker, and keep the “share tab audio” toggle on.
• Extension: it records the active tab — start the recording from the meeting’s tab, not from Banter’s.

The other side is silent on Zoom or Teams

You’re in the native Zoom/Teams desktop app but shared a browser tab — and the call’s audio isn’t in a tab. In the share picker, switch to Entire screen and turn on Also share system audio instead: Banter then hears everything your computer plays, the call included. Details: Zoom, Microsoft Teams.

The browser won’t let me record at all

Microphone permission is blocked. Click the padlock/permissions icon in the address bar and allow the microphone for app.usebanter.ai (and for the meeting site, if it’s also blocked).

The recording didn’t show up in my note

• Recordings land in whichever note was open when you hit record — check there first.
• Search for the meeting title or ask the assistant to find recent recordings if you are not sure which note was open.
• If you went offline mid-upload, the upload resumes when you reconnect. Keep Banter open until it finishes.

The transcript is taking a while

A few minutes is normal; long recordings take proportionally longer. Transcripts, speaker labels, timestamps, and summaries appear after the recording uploads and finishes processing.

The speaker names are wrong

Names starting out as suggestions can be corrected inline in the transcript pane — click the name and fix it. Using the extension on Meet or Teams improves naming, because Banter can see the real participant list. See Transcripts and speaker labels.

The recording stopped when I closed something

Closing the Banter tab or the shared meeting tab ends what’s being captured. If you record often, install Banter as a PWA so it lives in its own window instead of a closable tab.
