Quick start

Capture your first conversation in a computer browser, then use its transcript and notes with the assistant.

Banter’s core loop is simple: record a conversation, get a speaker-labeled transcript next to your notes, then hand the whole thing to AI. Start with a short recording, then ask the assistant about it once processing finishes.

What you need

  • A Banter account (app.usebanter.ai)
  • Chrome or Edge on a computer for shared audio; available audio sources depend on your browser and operating system

Capture your first conversation

  1. Open a note, or click New note at the top of your notes to start one. Recordings live inside notes, so whatever note is open is where the recording lands.
  2. Click Record audio in the editor toolbar. This is separate from the waveform Dictate button, which inserts text without keeping a recording.
  3. Pick a source:
    • Microphone — just you talking, or people in the room with you.
    • System audio + microphone — you’re in an online meeting. In the browser’s share picker, choose Entire screen and turn on Share system audio. This captures your computer’s audio and your microphone.
  4. Talk for 30 seconds.
  5. Click Stop in the recording status at the top of the timeline, or Stop recording in the editor toolbar.

You can also start a recording directly from the Microphone or System audio + microphone buttons in the New note row. That creates a note for the recording.

The recording uploads and, a few minutes later, the note has a full transcript with speaker labels and timestamps, plus a summary.

Press Cmd+L (Ctrl+L on Windows) to open the assistant and try:

Draft a follow-up email from this note.

The assistant can read the transcript and note to draft the email. Open any source references it provides to check the details, and review the draft before using it.
