Record Google Meet
Capture Meet calls from your side of the browser — no bot joins, and speaker labels still work.
Nothing joins your Meet call. Banter records from your side of the browser: your mic on one channel, the tab’s audio (everyone else) on the other, so the transcript still knows who said what.
With the extension (recommended)
- Install the Chrome extension and sign in with your Banter account.
- Open the note where the call should land (or create one from the calendar event — see below).
- From the Meet tab, click the Banter extension icon and start recording.
- Click again to stop, or just leave the call.
The extension records the active tab plus your mic and reads the participant list from Meet itself, so speaker labels get real names instead of “Speaker 2”.
Without the extension
The web app alone can do it:
- Open your note and click the mic button → Tab + microphone.
- In the browser’s share picker, choose the Meet tab and keep tab-audio sharing on.
- Stop from the same mic button when you’re done.
From your calendar
With the extension installed, Google Calendar events get a create a Banter note from this event action — the note is titled and dated from the event, ready before the call starts.
During and after the call
- Keep taking notes during the call. The transcript, speaker labels, timestamps, and summary appear after you stop recording — see Transcripts and speaker labels.
- Press Cmd+Shift+S to attach a screenshot of the shared screen at that moment — it’s cropped to the shared content automatically.
- Once the transcript and summary are ready, ask the assistant for the follow-up: see Prompts that work.
A note on recording etiquette
Bot-free doesn’t mean secret. Tell people you’re capturing notes, and follow your local recording-consent rules — see Privacy and recording.
