In person and on the go

Capture room conversations, customer visits, and travel-day thoughts from whatever device is in your pocket.

Not every conversation happens in a tab. A plain microphone recording gets the same treatment as a meeting capture: transcript, speaker labels, timestamps, summary.

In the room

Open the note, click the mic button, choose Microphone, and set the device down. Speaker labels are applied to mic recordings too — Banter separates voices even from a single channel, and you can correct suggested names in the transcript pane afterward.

This works the same from a laptop or from the web app on your phone.

On your phone

The mobile web app records, dictates, searches, and chats. For serious on-the-go capture, the iOS app goes further:

  • Recording keeps running with the screen locked and in your pocket.
  • Uploads happen in the background and retry on bad connections — a recording captured offline uploads when you’re back on a network.
  • System audio capture can record what’s playing on the phone alongside your mic (not all apps are supported).

From your wrist

The Apple Watch companion records without your phone in hand: tap record, pick the target note from the synced list, talk. Recordings stay on the watch until your iPhone is in range, then transfer and upload through the normal pipeline. Nothing is lost if you’re offline all day.

Just you talking?

If there’s no conversation to label — you’re capturing your own thoughts — use dictation instead. It inserts text directly into the note and keeps no audio.
